Alight means to set fire, to burn, to shine brightly.
The story began when founder, Walter Lin, immigrated to Canada in 2010. After becoming frustrated with the lack of comprehensive academic support as he transitioned to his new school, a fire set off inside of him: to one day launch a holistic tutoring experience that would not only meet the academic needs of students across Canada, but one that would also focus on self-development and confidence — through learning.
Alight Education now services elementary and high-school students through private and group virtual tutoring all across Canada.
Meet the founder
Walter Lin
Wanting to ignite the passion in learning for the next generation of children, Walter founded Alight Education, and is actively striving to deliver the best educational experience that both parents and kids can ever imagine.
Walter graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. He served as a teaching assistant for University of Toronto’s in the Department of Computer Science, Math, and Statistics. Walter has abundant teaching experiences, and has helped many students in building their confidence while boosting their subjects’ marks by a considerable margin in a short period of time. His ability to connect knowledge in-classroom to real life; fun yet patient and cautious teaching style, makes him an absolute favourite for students. Walter specializes in teaching Mathematics.
